Bill Koelpfer did not return as planned, so while a wildland fire approached Chino Hills, West Valley SAR was called to search for the missing man on November 15. Fire Cancels Recertification
Our MRA technical rope recertification was canceled due to the fires. Roads to our location are closed and one of the teams and a few of the evaluators are busy with fire duties. That’s the nature of SAR. The reason we have to make up the cert was because we had a search during the regular certification last March. Missing Hunter in Fresno Co.
My team was called to assist in the search for a missing hunter. The CP is at the Dinkey Creek Ranger Station. I am currently attending the International Technical Rescue Symposium in Albuquerque, NM, so I’m not able to respond. JL

The Hagner Search
Mr. Hagner was reported missing by his wife on Saturday evening. Mrs. Hagner had a general idea of where he was headed, and mentioned that he was active in a hiking club that he found online. I was scheduled to serve as an evaluator as part of the Rope Rescue Oversight Committee today with the evaluation of another team, but there is also a search near Mt. Baldy. We’re in the middle of sorting it out. JL
