Just Got Called for Search for Missing San G Hiker
My team (The Cave Rescue Team) just got called to help in a search for a missing 28 year old hiker near Yucaipa. I don’t have any details yet, but so far, response from the team has been sparse. Sometimes work complicates the schedule. Still waiting to hear from a few folks.
It turns out that the missing hiker was part of a larger party that day-hiked the summit of San Gorgonio yesterday....

Cave Team trained at Cave of the Winding Stair this weekend. 3 members of Barstow DRS accompanied us. JL
Cave of the Winding Stair
Three from Barstow Desert Rescue joined us for our training in Winding Stair. Like always the wind howled at the Mitchell Caverns State Park campground. We got on the road to the cave around 0830, and exited the road around 2230. Half the group went to the bottom and the rest of us rigged a rescue scenario out of the “Office”. JL Here are some photos

Estrada Search to End Friday
It looks like tomorrow will be the final day of searching for Maria Estrada. Teams have been in the field for a week with no sign of Ms. Estrada. Too bad. JL

We're Heading Home
Maria Estrada was reported missing by her friend on Sunday evening near Fort Paiute north of I-40 and west of Hwy 95. They split up on a short hike on Satuday and Maria did not return as planned.
My team, Team 4, was assigned to search from the point last seen (PLS) east toward the ruins (also called the parking area) in a drainage with running water. The going was slow as there was much brush....
Heading to Search Area
After a night in Needles we are headed to the search area west of Hwy 95 about 15 miles north of I-40. We got more information this morning at breakfast regarding our missing woman. She is 67 years old and went missing from a hike on Saturday. She was in the area with a friend of hers and they decided to take different paths on a short hike from their RV. A Night in Needles
When we arrived at the intersection of hwy 95 and I-40 we called the CP and we were told to head into the Days Inn in Needles for the night. They weren’t sending any teams in the field this evening, but would start 0600 the following morning. This means we are scheduled to wake up at 0330 tomorrow to get time to eat and get out to the search area. Evidently the CP is about an hour and a half...
