Missing 71 Year Old Woman
We had plans to be out of town, and I have been sick for the past week, so I am not able to respond to this one. I just checked in with teammates, and the missing woman has been diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease, so this greatly impacts search planning. Evidently she has done this before and usually just ends up and a nearby home. My teammates are searching a canyon near a number of homes....
Cave Team responding to search in SD Co. JL
WatchRodney and I climbed the nine peaks of the San Bernardino Divide this August. We spent about a day and a half and we were whipped.
WatchThe Barstow DRS and Cave Rescue Team trained together near Calico. We used two Arizona Vortexes in a “Larkin Frame” arrangement to lower and raise a patient into a pit without touching the sides of the passage or the opposite side of the hole. This arrangement worked very well.

This was the call that we got yesterday. Glad the LA folks were able to get up there and help out.

It looks like this article has a few facts different than what I was given. This is not unusual. We never know the full details until we arrive. Sometimes the “truth” developes as we are in the field.
Missing 63 Year Old Hiker in Madera County
My team just got called to search for an overdue hiker up in Madera County. Not sure of details at the moment, but it looks like they are working it out of a substation in Bass Lake.
