We’re Heading Home
Maria Estrada was reported missing by her friend on Sunday evening near Fort Paiute north of I-40 and west of Hwy 95. They split up on a short hike on Satuday and Maria did not return as planned.
My team, Team 4, was assigned to search from the point last seen (PLS) east toward the ruins (also called the parking area) in a drainage with running water. The going was slow as there was much brush. The reeds were so thick that we were able to walk over them and stay out of the trickle from the spring. It was very pretty and we flushed many quail and dove. We even came across a rattlesnake that wasn’t happy to see us.
We continued our walk down past the ruins to a powerline road. The whole time we saw no sign of Ms. Estrada. It is over 100 degrees, but if she is able to stay by what little water there is, the conditions are survivable.
